Building on the market success of the analog bathroom heater, lifestyle brand BOTTOOM commissioned the development of its successor. This next-generation model marks a significant leap forward, integrating a digital interface with expanded air purification, drying, and dehumidifying capabilities.

The 'Cascade' is strategically positioned as a high-performance, accessible alternative to costly ceiling-integrated systems. While ceiling units offer a clean look, they require invasive installation and carry a high price point—barriers for many renters and younger homeowners. Cascade addresses this niche by offering comparable performance in a sleek, wall-mounted package that requires no structural modification, providing a professional-grade climate solution without the permanence of a renovation.

Design-wise, the challenge was to evolve the brand’s aesthetic while addressing the physical growth required for upgraded components. Where the predecessor leaned toward a colder, purely engineered feel, the Cascade introduces a more contemporary neutrality. We softened the body lines and applied a sophisticated geometric pattern, allowing the device to act as a quiet, modern accent in any bathroom interior.

To manage the increased volume, we utilized a stepped, two-tone housing strategy. By creating an intentional offset between the front and rear covers and applying contrasting tones, we visually broke up the mass, giving the device a slimmer, more lightweight profile than its dimensions suggest.

The defining visual and functional element of the Cascade is the tilted handle. In the previous model, a vertical handle caused hot air to bounce back into the unit; we resolved this by gently angling the handle forward. This subtle tilt not only improves internal airflow but also creates a more ergonomic experience for drying towels. Crucially, we engineered this flowing geometry to be manufactured as a single-piece mold, maintaining the production efficiency and structural integrity established by its predecessor. The signature surface pattern flows seamlessly across this transition, making the technical improvement look like a deliberate stylistic choice.

One of the most engaging challenges involved the lower air vent. Engineering requirements dictated a circular internal outlet for optimal airflow, which initially clashed with our minimalist grid pattern. Our solution was a generative blending pattern: a radial motif that begins as a circle at the center and gradually transitions into linear geometry as it spreads outward. This ensures peak mechanical performance while maintaining the design’s visual integrity.

The Cascade stands as a balanced synthesis of distinctive character and architectural silence—a smart, powerful evolution that feels right at home in the modern bathroom.
