At the request of LG, we explored the lifestyles of younger teenagers and developed multiple future-oriented scenarios, each translated into a distinct smartphone concept tailored to specific user needs and behaviors. The project focused not on a single device, but on understanding how personal habits and passions could shape the form and function of mobile technology. The concept I was responsible for was built around a fictional teenage persona named Seth—an avid gamer whose daily life revolves around immersive and competitive gaming experiences. This device was designed as a gaming-focused smartphone that physically adapts to gameplay. A sliding display mechanism allows the screen to move vertically, revealing a QWERTY keypad beneath when extended. This hidden keypad enhances control and responsiveness, offering a more tactile and precise interaction during gaming sessions.
Additional customizable function keys were placed on both upper sides of the device, enabling users to assign frequently used commands depending on the game being played. These physical controls aim to bridge the gap between traditional mobile gaming and dedicated gaming hardware. The rear of the phone was designed to amplify the sense of play. A powerful speaker system is integrated into the back, visually expressed through subtly protruding convex forms on both sides. These volumes not only communicate audio performance but also reinforce the device’s bold, playful character—turning sound, touch, and form into a unified gaming experience. This concept envisions a smartphone that evolves beyond a screen, becoming an active gaming tool shaped by the user’s passion.
