This project explores a tablet-style mobile phone with a 5-inch display, designed specifically for iriver. Grounded in iriver’s design identity, the overall form language remains calm, simple, and minimal, while placing strong emphasis on creating a distinctive yet understated character. Rather than relying on bold visual gestures, the design seeks quiet clarity and balance, allowing subtle details to define its personality. In landscape orientation, the grip area is intentionally made slightly thicker, introducing a soft, volumetric transition that recalls the feeling of holding a book in one hand. This sculptural nuance enhances ergonomic comfort while adding a sense of familiarity and warmth. To enrich this area with visual interest, the detail of a spiral notebook binding is reinterpreted and integrated into the form, evoking an analog sensibility through a contemporary lens.

Although fundamentally a digital device, the design intentionally borrows emotional cues from everyday analog objects. By blending modern technology with the tactile memory of a notebook, the project delivers a device that feels both intuitive and human—an object that quietly bridges the digital and analog worlds while remaining true to iriver’s refined design philosophy.
