This project focused on the design development of a conceptual car dashboard for LG Electronics’ new automotive business division, targeting exhibition at the Volkswagen Tech Show. The primary objective was to communicate LG’s advanced curved display technologies in a way that felt both intuitive to users and visually compelling as a future-facing automotive interface. The dashboard was designed to maximize usability and comfort when interacting with curved displays, while clearly showcasing LG’s technological leadership. In addition to the display itself, the concept integrated multiple in-vehicle technologies proposed by LG, including a wireless smartphone charging dock positioned to the driver’s right and an upper-front motion sensor above the cluster, enabling touchless interaction. This project required close collaboration with specialists across multiple disciplines. Starting from early concept sketches, I worked alongside a professional automotive 3D modeler to carefully balance design intent with real-world feasibility. The finalized concept was realized through a full-scale working mockup, produced by a specialized prototype manufacturer, and further refined by a premium automotive leather studio, where the dashboard was finished with genuine leather upholstery commonly used in high-end European vehicles.
Leading this process as the Lead Designer, from initial vision to physical execution, provided a rare opportunity to orchestrate design, engineering, and craftsmanship into a cohesive, production-realistic concept that bridges future technology and human-centered experience.
