‘Shou’ transforms a simple line of rapidly spinning LEDs into a canvas of light, painting messages and graphics that appear as if they’re floating in mid-air. It is a design born from the idea that technology should be as fluid and expressive as our own thoughts. Unlike typical devices that prioritize complex video playback, Shou’s true charm lies in its immediacy and poetic simplicity—capturing fleeting emotions and turning them into light.

The architecture of the device is defined by a clever, dual-layered wing system. During operation, the front wing rotates 180 degrees to achieve perfect symmetry around the central axis, ensuring a stable and balanced high-speed rotation. When not in use, these wings fold back to serve a protective role, shielding the delicate LED components housed on the rear layer. This mechanical transition is both functional and visually satisfying, marking the shift from a static object to a dynamic medium.

Safety and manufacturing efficiency were integrated into the core design through innovative material application. The body is equipped with five motion sensors—positioned front, back, left, right, and top—to detect any approaching obstacles or unintentional contact, instantly halting rotation for user safety. Rather than using a multi-step assembly to attach separate sensor covers, the entire body is produced from a single transparent material. By applying a refined texture to the surfaces except for the sensor windows, the lenses are integrated seamlessly into the body in a single production process, achieving a clean, sophisticated look while optimizing manufacturing.

With a seamless pairing to your phone, Shou becomes a responsive beacon. Whether acting as a lively signal at a street pop-up or a shared voice of energy in a crowded stadium, it avoids the cluttered aesthetic of traditional digital signage. It remains a refined, minimalist tool—personal, intuitive, and beautifully alive.
